In this video, learn about the new features and benefits of Daltile’s offerings and how they will be implemented at VISION House Transcend.
In this video, Sara Gutterman, CEO of Green Builder Media, discussed the innovations in the tile industry with Mike Profilio, the senior director of the builder multifamily channel at Daltile Corporation.
The company has a long history when it comes to environmental protection. Current milestones include:
Creating products made from 99% recycled or reclaimed materials.
Implementing a water reuse and recovery system in manufacturing plants.
Reducing Dal-Tile’s carbon footprint by 39% since 2018.
The company has also minimized transportation emissions by shifting supply chains and logistics toward local suppliers and USA-made products. Daltile wanted to “make sure we are delivering on quality, color, and pattern expectations while converting to a much broader ratio of domestic raw materials,” explains Profilio.
VISION House Transcend, a demonstration project designed in conjunction with prefab home builder Dvele, will feature several lines from Daltile for floors, showers and backsplashes. Elongated subway and marbleized picket mosaics will create a timeless and modern aesthetic. Their offerings are free of toxic chemicals and built to promote a healthy living environment.
Daltile’s new Rekindle line will be featured in the home, which has “a warm, white-toned concrete visual,” Profilio explains. Rekindle has both StepWise and DEFEND technology, making it the perfect choice for this indoor-outdoor living space.
StepWise increases slip resistance by 50% when compared to tile meeting ANSI standards. Additionally, it is easy to clean and waterproof for when life is a little messy. “It’s perfect for the Transcend demo home because this is going to allow the product to be carried throughout both the interior and exterior spaces of the home,” says Profilio.
DEFEND, powered by Microban, features components in the glazed surface that protects against the growth of 99% of bacteria. It never wears off and fights odor and stains for the lifetime of the product. “The end result is a surface that is consistently protected 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we are continuing to launch more series that feature the DEFEND by Microban,” Profilio excitedly announces.
