Sunnova is advancing solar technology to improve energy independence and resilience. Learn about their innovations and contributions to future-proof homes, including the VISION House Las Vegas project.
As consumers eagerly adopt new technologies like AI, autonomous vehicles, and smart devices to streamline their lives, it's no surprise that solar adoption is also gaining momentum. Homeowners are keen to incorporate solar technology to cut utility costs, increase energy independence during grid outages, and be responsible stewards of the environment.
To explore this trend, Sara Gutterman, CEO of Green Builder Media, spoke with Michael Grasso, EVP and Chief Revenue Officer at Sunnova.
Grasso observes, “In our space, we’re seeing a notable increase in solar adoption, particularly rooftop solar. New homes are now being equipped with rooftop solar and battery storage, with increasing interest in electric vehicle (EV) charging.”
This growing adoption of solar reflects homeowners’ quest for greater control over their energy needs. At Sunnova, smart panels are designed to help homeowners “manage their energy consumption and provide the flexibility to potentially go off-grid and rely entirely on their solar system,” adds Grasso.
The peace of mind that comes from knowing you'll still have power during a natural disaster is priceless. He notes, “Consumers are increasingly motivated to generate, store, and manage power from their homes. Significant portions of the country, especially California and Texas, are dealing with the repercussions of a stressed energy grid.”
In response, there is a push in some states to make solar adoption mandatory for new construction homes.
Grasso explains, “With rising demand on the grid and accelerated electrification in the U.S., more jurisdictions are recognizing the value of solar installations. They are increasingly likely to require solar systems to address grid issues. In time, battery storage solutions are expected to become mandatory in certain states as well, as it helps manage energy consumption, optimize grid integration, and enhance overall grid stability.”
Grasso notes, “It’s about creating the home of the future with access to clean, renewable solar energy. Our goal is to advance energy independence, and this project perfectly illustrates how integrating these solar technologies supports both consumers and the grid.”
Through its collaboration with the VISION House Las Vegas project, Sunnova is helping to set a new benchmark for the future of solar energy, demonstrating how innovative solutions can improve both home living and grid reliability.
