James Hardie has been featured in several of Green Builder Media’s VISION House projects, mainly because the company’s fiber cement siding products are durable, resilient, and low maintenance. So, it was an easy choice to include Hardie Plank and Hardie Shingle on the VISION House Sussex in Wisconsin.
ColorPlus Technology boasts a 15-year limited warranty that covers paint, labor and protection against peeling, cracking, and chipping.
VISION House Sussex was created as a blueprint for sustainable development, illustrating how green materials can be seamlessly integrated into beautiful designs. Hardie fiber cement siding gives the home an elevated curb appeal without having to sacrifice durability and protection that’s built for the long haul.
Wisconsin's weather is extreme: hot, stormy summers and freezing, snowy winters take their toll on home facades. As Tim O’Brien Homes looked to deliver a high-performance, sustainable, and attainable build, the VISION House needed to feature a durable and resilient building envelope to ensure the home’s longevity and reduce the burden of maintenance over time.
“It’s very durable and long-lasting even in a climate like ours where temperatures drop well below zero,” states Tim O’Brien, President of Tim O’Brien Homes, as he explains his choice to use products by James Hardie.
Additionally, pests are not attracted to the fiber cement siding material, so homeowners won’t
have to worry about termites, woodpeckers or other critters damaging the home’s exterior.
Tim O’Brien Homes chose to include ColorPlus Technology finishes, which are cured onto the board before delivery in a controlled environment, ensuring a more consistent color and finish. Since it is baked on, the color lasts longer than a typical on-site paint job and resists chipping, peeling, cracking, and fading.
