Beazer Homes, a leader in energy-efficient home building, is committed to enhancing the comfort, health, and durability of homes through advanced construction practices, including being the first national production homebuilder to set a target to build 100% of its homes to Zero Energy Ready Homes (ZERH) standards.

With 39% of global greenhouse gas emissions attributed to the building industry, the need for action is urgent. Beazer Homes sets itself apart as an industry leader by pledging that by the end of 2025, 100% of its production homes will meet Zero Energy Ready Homes (ZERH) standards–a first-of-its-kind commitment.

Beazer 2023 Sustainability Report -1

Ambitious environmental targets are not new for Beazer. Since 2010, all of its homes have been equipped with EPA-certified WaterSense fixtures. Since 2011, every home has been built to ENERGY STAR standards, and since 2022, all homes have been Indoor airPLUS certified.

Beazer continues to make its homes more energy efficient each year, as seen with its continually improving HERS score. In 2023, the average HERS score for Beazer Homes was 49, which is 33% more efficient than the typical new home.

By the end of 2025, with all homes expected to meet ZERH standards, the average HERS score is projected to improve to 45. Additionally, these homes are expected to emit approximately 14,000 pounds less CO2e compared to the average U.S. home.

Beazer’s energy efficiency efforts have earned it several accolades, including the 2023 EPA Indoor airPLUS Leader of the Year award and the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award for eight consecutive years.

And the best part? Beazer recognizes that energy efficiency is just one piece of the sustainability puzzle. They equally prioritize strong social and governance practices as part of their ESG strategy.

For example, the company has made $2.5 million in charitable donations, enhanced diversity among all employees and the Board, completed 2,364 hours of safety training for employees and partners, increased Board oversight, and earned recognition for their efforts with the Top Workplaces USA award and a spot on Newsweek’s list of America’s Most Trustworthy Companies.

Beazer is dedicated to continually advancing all three pillars of ESG—environmental, social, and governance—as they are driven by the long-held imperative to build a home that is healthier, more durable, and more comfortable for occupants.

The VISION House Las Vegas: Crossing the Rubicon project exemplifies Beazer’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their efforts to achieve a 100% Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH) target.

Prospective residents will have the opportunity to view the three VISION House demonstration models on the property: a baseline model, an upgraded model, and a “deconstructed' model that showcases the behind-the-wall systems used to achieve higher energy efficiency.
