Check out these wellness product stand-outs from 2025 Design & Construction Week.
I’ve been writing about products and innovations that enhance homeowners’ wellbeing for more than a decade and the question I’m asked most often is “What is wellness design?”
As with sustainability, there is a wide range of definitions, depending upon one’s perspective and priorities. I define wellness design as the practice of creating spaces that support the safety, health and wellbeing of their occupants.
That’s a pretty broad definition, so I’ve organized it into what I call the Five Facets of Wellness Design. They are:
Health & Fitness, which include products or features that enhance an occupant’s health and/or support their fitness goals.
Safety & Security, encompassing products that make occupants safer, and/or more secure and increase the resilience of their homes.
Accessibility, which makes it easier for someone with mobility or other physical challenges to use the space according to their needs, and potentially live more independently in their home.
Functionality covers a wide range of benefits, including low maintenance, durability, cost and energy savings.
Comfort & Joy, most people’s favorite facet, means making a space more enjoyable, personalized and/or calming.

The best wellness products encompass more than one facet, multiplying their potential for improving wellbeing. There were ample products embodying these facets at Design & Construction Week in Las Vegas this year. I’ve chosen the following to share with Green Builder readers:
SPAN – Panel MLO 48 (MSRP $3,500) Wellness Facets: Health (Indoor Air Quality), Safety and Security (Resilience), Functionality (Electric Bill Savings)
If you’re planning to replace a gas range with an induction model, you might find that your electric panel needs an upgrade to handle new demands.
While electrification is definitely a sustainability enhancer, removing dangerous gas fumes from your home is also a health benefit. If you’re also planning to electrify other features in your home like a water heater, fireplace, clothes dryer and EV charger, it may be worth replacing your outdated electric panel too.
The SPAN Panel MLO 48, which won Best of IBS Energy Efficiency Product award, aims to be that replacement with smart features. You can control it from anywhere and, in combination with solar panels and battery backup, enhance your resilience during a power outage. For example, you may shut off power to your washer and dryer and guest room television for a down day or two and focus your capacity on lights, refrigerator, range and HVAC system.
Savant – Savant Power System with Storm Watch (MSRP from $1,499) Wellness Facets: Safety and Security (Resilience); Functionality (Electric Bill Savings)
There’s no question that hurricanes and wildfires are increasing in frequency and ferocity. Both can impact the electric grid in your area. In Southern California, where I live, our electric provider sometimes shuts down power lines if there’s heightened fire potential, inconveniencing homeowners to lower danger and liability risk.
The Savant Power System’s backup battery system (not included in the pricing above) for solar-enabled homes makes accessing every single minute of your energy capacity easier and more efficient. Its Storm Watch feature, built into the system’s app, predicts likely outage scenarios to optimize your access, seamlessly shifting from sending power to the grid to storing it for your use.
Bidet functionality has long been common in Europe and Asia for its gentler, more thorough cleaning. Its emergence in the US market is more recent, and its dramatic surge in popularity in the last five years owes much to the pandemic-driven great toilet paper shortage of 2020.
The pandemic had another unfortunate impact that made bidet functionality worth considering: It drove many nursing homes to send vulnerable residents back to their families. Having a bidet-enabled seat or toilet made it easier for the older family member to handle intimate hygiene needs without the help of a caregiver. This preserved their dignity and saved an untrained family member from a lifting injury.
When I first started writing about why homeowners should consider adding a bidet-enhanced toilet to their bathrooms, there were just a few models to choose from and their $7,000 and higher price tags put them out of reach for many readers. There are many more models to consider today, and the pricing is much more reasonable.
Kohler’s Leap is one of the offerings available today from a global brand, with heated seat, touchless flushing, automatic deodorization and UV wand cleaning. It’s also ADA compliant and WaterSense certified.
Airmada – AirPocket Door (MSRP from $6,000) Wellness Facets: Health (Mold and Mildew Mitigation), Accessibility (Ease of Access and Use); Functionality (Easier Cleaning)
Cleaning a glass shower door is no one’s idea of fun, especially in regions with hard water, so reducing the difficulty of that chore makes home maintenance easier. (That’s especially helpful for users who may have physical challenges or demanding schedules.)
This enhanced version of Airmada’s shower door means getting the benefit of its drying function with easy to open and close operation. For larger doors, up to 40” by 96”, that’s especially helpful, given their weight and bulk.
It’s also helpful that the AirPocket Door can accommodate both a steam shower with its full seal and curbless entry for wheelchair users. (Airmada also makes shower enclosure drying systems that can keep the entire space mold and mildew free.)
BlueStar – 48” Platinum Series Induction Range (MSRP from $15,995) Wellness Facets: Health (Better Indoor Air Quality), Safety (Reduced Burn and Fire Risk), Functionality (Lower Electric Bills, Faster Cooking, Easier Cleaning), Joy (Color Customization)
A pro-style range like this is for the homeowner who loves to cook and entertain. For that serious home chef, this appliance is a win! (The BlueStar 48” Platinum Series Induction Range also won a KBIS’ DesignBites Brand with the Biggest Bite award.) Induction is the fastest, most powerful surface cooking technology in the appliance category. It’s also the most energy efficient and easiest to clean, since spilled food doesn’t bake onto its burners.
This range has a new matte finish induction surface, which BlueStar says is even easier to clean than traditional glossy versions, as well as being scratch and stain resistant. What’s also new are red light indicator bars in front of each burner, showing you how much power it’s providing at that moment. This feature may satisfy those cooks who crave the red glow of a gas flame. This range delivers the red glow without the polluting flame.
There are many other cooking features that will delight the serious home chef. What makes this range a wellness pick for me are its induction innovations and the joy of abundant personalization in 1,000 color choices, textured finishes, trim and knob options.
