IAPMO seeks volunteers to participate on the new Technical Committee for Hot Water Recirculation System Design, Installation, Commissioning, and Operations.

IAPMO Seeks Task Group Members for Hot Water Recirculation Committee

Committee members will work on a new manual that will develop a holistic approach to the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of domestic hot water systems for the built environment, including but not limited to commercial and multifamily facilities.

The goal of this standard will be to develop prescriptive and performance requirements for domestic hot water recirculation systems to minimize energy and water usage while improving safety.

“This manual will play a crucial role in improving sustainability by reducing water and energy use of hot water systems while also minimizing the risk of waterborne disease and improving the well-being of building occupants,” says IAPMO Vice President of Technical Services and Research Christoph Lohr, P.E.

Founded in 1926, IAPMO seeks to be a worldwide leader in the plumbing and mechanical industry through the protection of health and safety. IAPMO develops industry standards with a focus on plumbing products, solar heating systems and components, mechanical products (including heating, ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration system products) and products used in the recreational vehicle and manufactured housing industries.

“Maintaining the performance of hot water recirculation systems is crucial to plumbing resiliency efforts,” says IAPMO Vice President of Codes and Standards Development Hugo Aguilar, P.E. “This manual will complement the work of our standards process and allow for enhanced technical discussions.”

The deadline to apply is Dec. 31. Anyone interested in serving on the new committee may complete the application online here .
