These homeowners are not only motivated by doing their part to protect the environment, but when they have to face a climate event, they want to be able to live through it with minimal time or cost loss.
When asked if they would purchase an all-electric house, only 36.1% of home buyers said yes in 2025. Today, 73.4% say that they would purchase an all-electric house, nearly tripling the interest in one year.
Most homeowners (35.5%) believe the biggest benefit of an all-electric home is reducing their environmental footprint, moving ahead of saving money (25.7%).
“If you look more deeply at this trend, I think you will find two particular pieces of technology that are pushing the change–electric heat pumps and hybrid heat pump water heaters,” says Matt Power, Green Builder magazine’s Editor-in-Chief. “Those two items alone can account for more than 70% of the energy usage in a typical house. They are 300% more efficient than the old equipment.”
Home buyers have more options than ever before to make an all-electric home a reality. From new designs to more available products, it’s becoming easier to move away from fossil fuels. There also is a large increase in using renewables to power an all-electric home, which not only cuts costs substantially over the lifetime of a home, but also has less impact on the environment.
What could this mean for your company? Do you have all-electric designs and floorplans already or do you need to work with an architect to convert your current offerings? When you have the product ready, you’ll need to adjust your marketing to be sure that prospective buyers know you are giving them something that is in high demand and delivers to their preferences.
