The VISION House Transcend home isn’t just net zero and all-electric; it’s grid interactive. Thanks to Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA) and Tri-State Generation & Transmission, this project showcases how utilities can embrace the future. Solar arrays paired with battery storage and Schneider Electric smart panels transform Transcend into a virtual power plant, capable of sending energy back to the grid when demand spikes.
The result? Credits from the local co-op offset remaining costs, turning a home into both a consumer and a producer of clean energy. With utilities like GCEA and Tri-State leading the way, homeowners gain resilience, communities benefit from cleaner power, and the grid itself becomes smarter and more reliable.
