All the news and stories shaping sustainability and housing, week of February 23.

We are freshly back from the IBS/KBIS show in Orlando, and, wow, do we have a lot to share about it. Here are the highlights with the full story on the Green Builder Media Network podcast. The Show in sum? It was AI appliances. Induction everything. Electrification framed as premium. (And, yes, the color gray’s 15 minute of fame is officially over—brown tones reigned!)

Did you know a recent national survey showed buyers think “affordable housing” is $158,000? This number was presented in a session put on by Buildxact, with solutions for how to get there (or thereabouts). In fact, “Attaining Affordability” and “Reclaiming Affordability” were big rallying cries at the show.

The podcast also explores:

  • New code moves in four states: Illinois, Rhode Island, New York, and Washington, as well as zoning wars—with Idaho in the spotlight.
  • A demonstration concept with bio-based materials, modular design, and a reduced carbon footprint.
  • AI’s entrance into custom home design.
  • A smart workforce housing project.

Plus, upcoming dates for green events, a snippet video of our latest podcast interview from The Valuation Metric, and a new Hot Take from COGNITION Smart Data.
