VISION House Sussex project by Tim O’Brien Homes will showcase and demonstrate how builders can utilize market-available products to drive performance and sustainability, promote health and wellness and deliver today’s smart home at price points within market rate.
In this video, Sara Gutterman, CEO of Green Builder Media, and Mike Profilio, Sr Director of the Builder MultiFamily Channel at Daltile, discuss the breadth of innovations and technologies that Daltile’s products bring to the VISION House Sussex.
The Daltile team is constantly innovating for homeowner safety, health and wellness, and product longevity. For example, Defend by Microban is infused during the glazing process with technology that doesn’t wear or wash off and provides antimicrobial protection.
Additionally, StepWise is infused into the tile to provide and increase the dynamic coefficient of friction (DCOF). With its combination of superior slip resistance and exceptional cleanability, StepWise is an excellent option for indoor-outdoor spaces or areas that are prone to getting wet, like bathrooms and kitchens.
The VISION House Sussex will benefit from several unique products from Daltile. Daltile’s ONE Quartz countertops will be featured on the kitchen island and perimeter countertops as well as in the owner’s bathroom. The kitchen backsplash is detailed with Mesmerist ceramic wall tiles in a hexagon format. The owner’s bathroom area is finished with Articulo, an elongated subway for shower walls and a coordinating Uptown Glass porcelain floor tile creating a wonderful retreat. Additionally, raindrop-shaped Decorative Accents will break up the shower wall and make for a distinguished design.
These products are stain-proof, dentproof and include Simpliclean technology for easy clean-ups and less scrubbing. They are also manufactured with pre and post-consumer recycled materials and do not contain VOCs, harmful chemicals or plastics.
As a resilient product choice, ceramic tile has an exceptional life cycle and outperforms other floor finishes in cost per SF over time while having the smallest carbon footprint of any floor surface. Utilizing tile can help reduce the amount of energy needed for heating and cooling due to its exceptional thermal mass.
As a company, Daltile is also committed to a better future. The company’s sustainability report highlights its efforts in the environmental, social and governance categories of ESG. Important to note is the opening of their new plant in Dickson, Tenn., and the use of domestically sourced materials to reduce carbon emissions from transportation.
In addition, the company works to recover wastewater, utilize recycled materials and reduce energy consumption. As a result, Daltile has diminished its carbon footprint by 39%.
