At a recent Heat Pump Week event hosted at the Center for Employment Training (CET) in San Jose, Rheem Manufacturing brought together students, industry professionals, and community members to demonstrate the real-world impact of heat pump technology.
The event, part of the California Heat Pump Partnership initiative, focused on both education and action. Attendees participated in hands-on training sessions designed to prepare the next generation of plumbers and HVAC technicians, while Rheem also supported real-world installations through programs like Electrify My Block.
In an interview after the event, Jon Bogle, a heat pump expert at Rheem, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and innovation.
“Sustainability is one of the cornerstones of Rheem’s corporate philosophy,” Bogle explained. “Heat pump technology represents the most efficient way we currently have to heat water or air, which makes it a key part of the future of our industry.”
As both an HVAC and water heating manufacturer, Rheem is uniquely positioned to advance integrated solutions that improve overall home performance. Heat pumps not only reduce energy consumption but also align with evolving regulations and decarbonization goals.
While upfront cost is often a concern, Bogle noted that the long-term financial benefits are significant.
“Yes, a heat pump water heater can cost more initially,” he said. “But the payback is remarkably quick. Homeowners can save hundreds of dollars a year on energy bills, and incentives from utilities and local programs can help offset the upfront investment.”
Beyond cost savings, performance and reliability remain top priorities for homeowners considering new technologies.
“It works,” Bogle emphasized. “You can have all the sustainability benefits in the world, but if it doesn’t deliver hot water, it doesn’t matter. These systems are highly efficient and dependable, while also reducing your home’s carbon footprint.”
By investing in workforce training and expanding access to high-efficiency systems, Rheem is helping build a more sustainable housing future.
