Designer Yannick Halsberghe walks through the factory-built modules of the VISION House Transcend home, showing how radiant heating, ERV ventilation, fire sprinklers, and solar-ready mechanicals are engineered into the walls before the home ever reaches the site.

Yannick Halsberghe: Unique. I worked for the design team at development and we're in Trenton Vision home right now. The nice thing about this house is that it's basically an experimental house where replacing a couple of things in this house, for example, our heating and cooling system will be a radiant system. This is the first time that we've ever used it.

Yannick Halsberghe: It's an open air system that basically is combined into our gypsum ceiling. Naught. So you can see in between our roof trusses up above that, we have block across all of our roof trusses. And that's basically the super nervous system in place. What you can already see in here, as well as the sprinkler system, it's another thing that's new on this house.

Yannick Halsberghe: This is the first time we've actually installed the sprinklers ourselves in-house. And I'd say so far, so good. Furthermore, we can see the IRB exhaust port for the kitchen. So once we get into the second module, I'll point out the place where the actual ERV will sit. It's basically the ventilation system of the house, and we also refer to it as the lungs of the house.

Yannick Halsberghe: And that just travels all the way back to the vitality room in the back. And then before we have a look at the front of the house here. So right now we're in the entry of the house. And within the entry you can see two open our manifolds. And that's all for the radiant heating in this particular house.

Yannick Halsberghe: So we basically have manifolds like this in every module. And that way this stitching on site between the two modules will become much more efficient. Rather than us trying to have a crossover between like hundreds of pipes back and forth. We'll just have like two connection points and this one is located in the entry will be covered with a nice drywall panel, so blends in with the rest of the site.

Yannick Halsberghe: So right now we're in the second module of the Tennis and Vision home. And as you can see right here in this wall we have quite a few pipes ducting going up into the walls. And it's a great example of how we first model everything in 3D spot, where all of our piping, all of our map needs to go, and our machines actually punching out holes for us to put all these pipes and duct tape to just go straight, go through the walls.

Yannick Halsberghe: This is all done prior to production, just to make production as smooth as possible, and to ensure that we never run into any production issues since we're in the second month. The actual mechanical room is in this module as well. So all of these pipes and ducts will all travel to the central location within the house. So right now we're in the mechanical room.

Yannick Halsberghe: And this is basically the heart, the lungs of the entire house. So right now there's not a lot going on here. But in the future this will be full of equipment. Right now we've heard that we just have like a Schneider indoor breaker panel. Here we have our opener radiant manifold right there. There's another breaker panel just past it.

Yannick Halsberghe: And on this entire wall right now, we can't see anything. But this will be entirely dedicated to solar. On this house, Genco is providing indoor batteries that we're going to use for this particular building on this entire side of the wall. We'll basically have our ventilation system on the left hand side. We will also have a dehumidifier pretty much right here in the middle.

Yannick Halsberghe: And then we'll have two big sword snakes on the right hand side here for the radiant system. Furthermore you can see here as well. And that will be connected to the road made of fire. And that travels all the way back into the living room. Both the other building.
