The report also disappoints with its assertion that the same old mix of heating equipment that uses polluting fossil fuels will persist through 2025. A "business as usual" approach to the extraction and use of greenhouse-gas producing fuels seems extremely unlikely, given mounting evidence of Climate Change impacts. As more radical, yet we believe, more realistic, forecast would be a much more rapid rise in the use of electric heat pump and resistance heating, with a phaseout of fossil fuel equipment.
