Building on its initial innovation—a packaging material made from agricultural waste and mushroom mycelium—Ecovative is in the process of creating a line of completely renewable, petroleum-free insulation products. As featured in the company’s demonstration project, the Mushroom Tiny House, live Mushroom Insulation is grown in-place under controlled conditions. The insulation solidifies, sets, and dries out over the course of about a month, resulting in an airtight, highly insulated structural wall assembly. Ecovative is also developing SIPs, acoustic panels and rigid board insulation.
