Despite setbacks, the opportunities for for so called salt water batteries are immense. All that's needed is enough momentum to displace more toxic materials.

While we were disappointed to see this notable Salt Water Battery company, Aquion Energy, file for bankruptcy protection recently, the technology is sound, and has been commercially available for a couple of years.We're confident that this company, or others following this innovative track will continue to pursue salt water storage technology. The status quo alternative of batteries made with heavy metals, rare minerals and other toxic materials is unsustainable in the long run.
